Afghanaid selects Harlequin as foundation for growth

Afghanaid has invested in charity CRM and fundraising software from Harlequin

Afghanaid has invested in charity CRM and fundraising software from Harlequin to support a five year growth strategy to increase its fundraising in the UK.

Afghanaid works in partnership with vulnerable people in remote communities in Afghanistan, helping families to expand food production, improve animal health, increase women’s literacy and provide access to safe water and sanitation. The charity has 360 personnel in Afghanistan along with a London office with five paid staff and two volunteers.

Amanda Curley Rushbrooke, UK Fundraising and Operations Manager at Afghanaid comments: “After seven years, inherited software was limiting our ambitions. On refining our five year strategy to deliver more sophisticated forms of fundraising, it was clear a professional charity system would be the foundation for growing income from individuals in the UK using enhanced CRM, donor stewardship and data tools. We want to be more efficient and fully trust our information – access to a rounded snapshot of a supporter’s life with Afghanaid will enable us to progress that journey.

“We chose Harlequin as we prefer suppliers that replicate our personal approach to customer service – Harlequin stood out for offering the best relationship. The software is both sophisticated and robust – giving us room to grow and innovate whilst doing a solid job in fundraising. In the future I can see the system helping with grant and trust management to link us with our colleagues in Afghanistan.”

Tom Ellis, Managing Director of Harlequin concludes: “The London team at Afghanaid have a clear plan of where they want to be with income generation; they see the system as a catalyst, working as an additional resource to streamline processes and lever output. Based both on the quality of our software and customer services, we are delighted they selected Harlequin as their long term partner.”
